Calibre HUB4700 is the successor to the famous El Primero calibre – the first chronograph with an integrated automatic winding mechanism (1969), which was also the first mechanical chronograph with a frequency of 5 Hz (36,000 vibrations per hour), thus achieving a precision of 1/10th of a second. In a perfect fusion of tradition and innovation, this fully skeletonised movement is now equipped with a silicon regulating organ that ensures avant-garde performance, precision and reliability.

From the first use of rubber in watchmaking, to the development of new precious alloys such as scratch-resistant Magic Gold, to the creation of revolutionary composite materials like ceramic and sapphire in unique colours – materials have always been at the heart of the Hublot universe. To realise its "Art of Fusion", the Manufacture has its own metallurgy and materials laboratory that works closely with the research and development department, as well as its own foundry. These innovative materials are developed and manufactured using cutting-edge technologies unique within watchmaking – technologies that belong exclusively to Hublot.
